In September of 2019 I placed an advertisement in a social media group for old spell enthusiasts in Iceland, asking for people who identified as witches and would be willing to be photographed. To be honest I didn’t expect much of a response but I got an amazing amount of replies. In the first week of photographing witches I had 15 of them come over to the studio, since then I’ve gradually met and photographed many more. I’m amazed at how many of us there are, and how easy witches are to find these days, once word got out that I was looking for witches they popped up all around me!
As of now I’m not sure when I’ll be finished with the project, maybe it’s endless and I enjoy it so much I’d be fine with that, but I aim to expand on it in the future and look in to more angles of witchery alongside the portraiture.
